Last summer, while on holiday in Chicago, I splurged big style on a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes.
I loved them so much that when I flew home I carried them as hand luggage and didn’t dare stow them above in cabin baggage. Instead, I tucked my shoes below my seat, safely nestled in their Neiman Marcus shopping bag.
Later that summer, I wore the shoes to my girlfriend’s wedding and soon realised the infamous red sole was scratching off. Regardless of already being prepared for this, every scratch broke my heart a little bit more. I decided that I had to fix this problem tout de suite but was petrified a cobbler wouldn’t have a red sole replacement.
I had nightmares of my lovely Louboutins with a black sole rather than their gorgeous signature, red sole. Oh the horror, the absolute HORROR!
I decided to send a panic stricken email to my local high end retailer, Holt Renfrew, begging for help. The service was amazing…two phone calls and an email later with a solution. Gotta heart Holts!
Turns out the cobbler, Moneysworth and Best, beside Holt Renfrew in Pacific Centre had the solution I was looking for – red sole replacements (called a toppy–see below pic). T’was a fairytale ending (or should I say renewal) for myself and my lovely Louboutins.
