Simple, Beautiful, Well-Fitted, Relaxed

Those are some of the words being used to describe the debut of the highly anticipated, celebrity free Marc Jacobs Ready-to-Wear (RTW) Fall 2010 show last night at New York Fashion Week (NYFW).

I raced home from my other, full-time, pays the bills job so I could drool over the live stream of the show broadcast directly from NYFW.  Some of my favourite pieces of the collection are featured below, but defo make time to gawk at the entire collection on Style.com.

The Marc Jacobs RTW Fall 2010 collection was all about simplicity in style and colour. Jacobs focused on femininity by accentuating the waist with skinny belts on coats, jackets and dresses. He designed pretty party dresses adorned with sequins and silky bows, 70′s throwbacks complimented with elegant leather gloves and fitted coats glammed up with fur.

But let’s be real, the majority of us likely can’t afford anything from the Marc Jacobs RTW Fall 2010 collection. But by scrutinizing the collection, you will learn how to work his styles into your already existing wardrobe or be in the know when affordable knock-offs arrive at a mall near you in August 2010.

When channeling Marc Jacobs and styling yourself for fall 2010, keep it simple in colour but spiced up with fur, sequins, gloves and skinny belts — not necessarily all at once! Accentuate your waist, wear wide legged trousers and fitted jackets, invest in flirty dresses and always add sequins or fur (faux fur is our friend).

And remember ladies, just because it’s in style doesn’t mean that it’s your style. Choose the one that works for you to guarantee optimal classic, chic, contemporary style.
