I heart formal shorts and own 3 pairs (grey, white and denim). I love my casual denim shorts for running errands in the summer and my grey, cotton-sateen shorts to showcase my gams when out for summer cocktails with friends.
How to Wear
Because the attention will be on your legs, I don’t recommend wearing your formal shorts with a skimpy tank top. My Nana always says, only show off one body part at a time. So if your legs (and high heels) are the focus of your outfit, pair with a loose, vintage blouse or a sleeveless, ruffled top beneath your bf blazer. You don’t want your top half to be too tight or revealing–always keep classic style in mind.
Work Appropriateness
Formal shorts, unless knee length, are not work appropriate. Unless you work in the fashion industry or are a hostess at one of those restaurants, reserve your formal shorts for evenings or weekend getaways–they’re too short to be taken seriously by your superiors.

Of Note
Remember ladies, just because it’s in style doesn’t mean that it’s your style. Choose the one that works for you to achieve optimal classic, chic, contemporary style.
